This is not hypothetical. A LogLens customer — a UK comparison site — had a brute-force attack against /blog//wp-login.php from a single datacentre IP pushing 114,838 hits. LogLens caught it within one 5-minute window. A batch tool would have reported it the next morning, long after the attacker had already taken the site down.
